Story of Compass Capital Management
It all Started in 1965 with a Vision to Serve Teachers
Lindell Hertberg began meeting with teachers in lunchrooms in 1965.
Education professionals face some different challenges when preparing for retirement. Just like many other people, finance is not often their area of expertise. Lindell became an expert in handling Tax Sheltered Annuities/403(b) accounts for school systems throughout Connecticut and New York. He met with teachers right in their schools to help them establish a TSA/403(b). At one point, the company served over 4,000 clients and 85 public school systems, including the State of Connecticut University and Community College network.
“What is best for our clients will be best for our company.”
This statement has been the founding principle of our company and the driving force behind every piece of advice our team offers.
Growing to Serve our Community
Over time, the passion to serve teachers spilled over into other areas. Preparing for retirement, managing investments, saving for college, and simply receiving sound advice in response to financial questions was something our community needed. Thomas Paron acquired the company in 1996 and helped facilitate the company’s shift in focus, officially becoming rebranded as Compass Capital Management.
Today we still possess our expertise for the Tax Sheltered Annuity /403(b) field for educators, but we also provide customized financial planning and investment advice to people from many different walks of life. For business owners in the community, we have expanded to provide group benefits solutions including group health, dental, disability, life and long-term care.
