Tom recently spent some time supporting a cause that is important to him. Please read below:
July 23-30, I participated in the Empire State Ride, a ride to raise funds for the Roswell Cancer institute in Buffalo New York. We spent 7 days riding from Staten Island, New York to Niagara Falls, New York covering 560 miles in total (averaging 80 miles a day). Each night we slept in tents in small towns across New York from Rhinebeck to Weedsport, following the Hudson River north and the Erie Canal West. This is the third year I have made this pilgrimage to honor the many we have lost to cancer and those who have bravely survived this dreaded decease. The ride includes cancer survivors, caregivers, researchers, and others raising funds for cancer research.
This year we raised $2M dollars for cancer research.
2024 will be the tenth anniversary of this ride and I look forward to once again attending. The ESR is one of those special events where everyone has a shared feeling of fellowship and working together for a common purpose. As the saying goes, "if you want to go fast, go alone, if you want to go far, go together".
Hope you have a great summer. We should all be grateful for the gift of life.
